back clean/normal. She was brought to AC4H after vetting.
5-2-07 Marquette was unable to get up on her own - vet was called and
additional tests run her heart beat was very fast but she was stressed,
another cbc drawn and followup for 5/3 scheduled.
5-3-07 cbc came back high normal, heart rate still high meeting held
with vet who examined on 5/2 and the vet who examined on 5/3 and
treatment plan was put together penicillan, dex and bute. Scheduled for
re-evaluation Wednesday and report to vet.
5-11-07 - I can pick up my back foot to scratch I can swing my head
around to shoo a fly, I can stand straight but mostly stand underneath
of myself... every now and again my rear has a mind of it's own. We
discussed Marquette today with her attending vet and she will be seen
again in one week, new cbc drawn and re-evaluated.
6-7-07 Recheck- R & R and if no significant improvement discussed
spinal tap to rule out EPM and treatment options thereof if positive.
8-17-07 she is showing great muscle tone and strength still
To Date Marquette has maintained her weight and has gained strength.
She is still slighly unsteady on her back right let but can walk, trot
and canter and is a very happy girl who loves attention.
Marquette through 2009 started to bow in her front right leg you can see
the start of it in the above pictures. Unfortunately because she
was growing and she was compromised she never stood a chance. The
vets kept checking her leg and it continued to bow out under the
pressure of compensating for her weaker backend. |
